Why are Tree Trim's truck based trimmers so much better for trimming my shelter belts?
They're custom built to maintain steady boom control for a better finish in quicker times. The 3-axle base and custom set length allows for efficient and smooth terrain crossing and better finishes.
Combined with our optional super fat flotation tyres, we have superior traction with less ground pressure significantly reducing our impact on your property. Great for getting through dairy farms in the winter!
The cab is positioned high so our operators have excellent visibility above the slash, maintaining unparalleled sight of the machine's perimeters and to fences, gateways and other property.
And our tilt cabs combine with the cab height to allow perfect vision for power line clearance operations.

Andrew and Valerie Jackson emmigrated to New Zealand from England in 1991. Prior to emigrating, Andrew ran his own pig farming business and Val worked as a veterinary nurse. Upon moving to New Zealand they both took up full time jobs in the area, before purchasing their home farm at Alford Forest during 1992.
Up until last year Andrew and Val reared dairy beef calves and sold them on the local trade market once finished. In 2005 they bought an irrigated dairy farm at Winchmore near Ashburton.
The home farm at Alford Forest then acted as the support block for the Winchmore dairy farm, providing grass silage as well as young stock and winter cow grazing. Last year the home farm was converted to dairying which is now run by share milkers who also run Andrew and Val’s irrigated dairy farm. The two farms total 340ha and support 1120 dairy cows.

The first few seasons, the team was small and it was a Quigley/Donaldson affair. I employed my parents, my wife to be Clare, sister Emma, cousin Alex and neighbour Andrew Donaldson. During the second season, Ricky Taylor started with the company driving the baler which enabled me to spend more time running the business and focussing on how to best serve the needs of clients.
We grew from 1 to 4 balers in the first 2 years, and quickly learned that not all clients want just one sized bale. In 2006 we added our first silage harvester to the fleet. This was a decision which we took after lengthy discussions with many of our local clients. Our clients felt that chopped silage was a service we needed to offer as it provided the cheapest way of moving large volumes of silage.
I consider myself to be very fortunate to have had the privilege of running this business for the last 13 years. The success of the business is fundamentally down to people.
At Pye Group we value our environment and work hard to ensure that our farming systems operate at an environmental level beyond what is required by compliance.
We have a dedicated staff member actively managing consent conditions using CS-Vue software programme ensuring ongoing compliance with consent conditions.
All farms have farm environment plans and nutrient budgets to ensure responsible use of nutrients.
Together with our strategic fertiliser partner Ravensdown we have implemented a Proof of Placement Fertiliser System using technology to ensure spreading of fertiliser in the most efficient and accurate way. The system allows us to protect sensitive areas by creating buffer zones where fertiliser cannot be applied.

We can’t master the weather for you but we aim to master the experience you have with us, at a standard we believe is excellent.A statement we often hear at GAVINS from those outside the business is, “...but to do that is not possible/not practical/not done before, etc etc...”. From its inception back in the late 1970’s GAVINS have always used technology which is cutting edge for its time. By keeping in step with the ever changing times we offer our clients the best service and products using a fleet of modern now machinery, not machinery from time’s past.
